By using Powder Howler (the website, the map and the phone apps) you agree to these terms. They're short, and the first one matters most.

1. Not for safety decisions

Forecasts, radar, snow reports and avalanche ratings in Powder Howler can be wrong, late or missing. Use them to plan where to chase snow, never to decide whether a slope is safe.

Avalanche ratings are a short summary of backcountry forecasts from avalanche centres. They don't cover in-bounds runs, which ski patrol manages. Before entering avalanche terrain, read the full forecast from the local avalanche centre, carry rescue gear, know how to use it, and make your own decisions. Check road, weather and resort conditions with the official source before you travel.

2. Where the data comes from

Powder Howler shows public data from other organisations: NOAA and the National Weather Service, Environment and Climate Change Canada, NRCS SNOTEL, the BC River Forecast Centre, Open-Meteo, avalanche.org, Avalanche Canada, OpenSkiMap and OpenStreetMap contributors, and others credited in the app. Each source is credited where its data appears and stays under its own licence. We aren't affiliated with or endorsed by any of them, or by any ski resort. Resort details, links and trail maps can be out of date.

3. Using the app

Powder Howler is free to use today. Please don't:

• copy our data feeds in bulk, scrape the site, or send it so many requests that it slows down for others;
• try to break, hack or overload the site or the services behind it;
• present Powder Howler, or data from it, as official or as your own.

We may add paid features later. Anything paid will be clearly marked, and we'll never charge you without asking.

4. Our name and design

The Powder Howler name, logo, text and design are ours. The underlying data belongs to its providers, as described above.

5. No guarantees

Powder Howler is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep it accurate and running, but we can't promise it will be correct, complete or available at any given time. We may change or remove features, or stop the service.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss, injury or damage that comes from using Powder Howler or relying on its information. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

6. Privacy

We don't collect personal data. The privacy policy explains what stays on your device and which services your browser talks to.

7. Changes and contact

If we change these terms we'll update this page and the date at the top. Using Powder Howler after a change means you accept the new terms. Questions: hello@powderhowler.com.
